Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Joe Haden suffered a broken fibula in Sunday's victory over the Indianapolis Colts, head coach Mike Tomlin announced.

The injury will keep Haden out indefinitely. If it ends his season, the 28-year-old will need to wait at least one more year to make his long-awaited playoff debut. Haden spent the first seven campaigns of his career with the Cleveland Browns before signing a free-agent contract with Pittsburgh in the offseason.

The Steelers hope Haden will be able to return this season, based on a potential six-to-eight-week recovery, according to NFL Network's Aditi Kinkhabwala.

Haden has recorded 16 tackles, one sack, and one interception in nine contests with the Steelers this season.
