Report: Seahawks to sign Byron Maxwell after Sherman injury
The Seattle Seahawks are set to sign cornerback Byron Maxwell to a one-year deal, days after losing Richard Sherman to a season-ending Achilles injury, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The move reunites Maxwell with the team he began his career and played for from 2011-14. He previously starred opposite of Sherman in Seattle's vaunted Legion of Boom, before leaving for a mammoth contract from the Philadelphia Eagles in free agency.
Maxwell last played for the Miami Dolphins, but was released Oct. 24. The 29-year-old had eight tackles and one forced fumble in eight appearances with the Dolphins this season.
Maxwell has recorded 10 interceptions over his seven-year career, including a career-high four with the Seahawks in 2013.
