Pro-Mounts, a photography accessories company in Europe, makes a device called the Pro-lapse.
It's a little a35 mount that slowly rotates, allowing the shooter to capture professional-quality time-lapse sequences. Coming with a locking plug, safety mount and antifog inserts, it's not fancy. But nothing I'd be ashamed to see poking out my fanny bag.
