Carolina Panthers safety Kurt Coleman was fined $24,309 for a hit delivered on Atlanta Falcons running back Devonta Freeman during the team's Week 9 victory.

Coleman avoided sanction during last week and wasn't penalized during the play. However, Coleman was disciplined for "unnecessary roughness" and is planning to appeal the fine, according to ESPN's David Newton.

Freeman appeared to be concussed but remained in the game. The running back was placed in the concussion protocol during the Falcons' Week 10 game against the Dallas Cowboys, appearing to aggravate the injury.

Falcons head coach Dan Quinn denied Monday that Freeman suffered a concussion during the Panthers game.

Freeman is in danger of missing Monday's game against the Seattle Seahawks.
