Ravens activate Woodhead to 53-man roster, eligible to play vs. Packers
The Baltimore Ravens activated running back Danny Woodhead from the injured reserve Saturday, the team announced.
Woodhead has been added to the 53-man roster and will be eligible to play in Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers.
Tight end Gavin Escobar was waived in the corresponding move.
The 32-year-old Woodhead suffered a hamstring injury in the Ravens' season-opening win over the Cincinnati Bengals. He carried the ball just once for four yards, while catching three passes for 33 yards.
Woodhead was signed to a three-year, $8.8-million contract as a free agent this past offseason. He can be cut following the end of the 2017 league year with the Ravens being charged just $1.5 million in dead cap.
Woodhead has racked up a total of 2,186 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns over his nine-year career which has included stints with the New York Jets, New England Patriots, San Diego Chargers, and Ravens. Primarily serving as a third-down back later in his career, Woodhead has totaled 2,531 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns through the air.
