Broncos' Lynch out 2-4 weeks, Siemian to regain starting job

Denver Broncos quarterback Paxton Lynch will miss two-to-four weeks due to the ankle injury sustained in Sunday's loss to the Oakland Raiders, head coach Vance Joseph announced Monday on Orange and Blue 760.

Trevor Siemian will take over for Lynch in Week 13 against the Miami Dolphins, regaining the starting job he held for the first seven games of the campaign.

Lynch's injury is the latest twist in what's been a roller-coaster ride at the quarterback position for the Broncos this year.

Siemian - who started all 16 games of the 2016 season - handily beat out Lynch in training camp. However, after seven weeks of offensive struggles, the Broncos benched Siemian in favor of Brock Osweiler while Lynch recovered from a shoulder injury.

Lynch, a former first-round pick, was handed his first start of the campaign Sunday against the Oakland Raiders, but was extremely ineffective.

He averaged 2.9 yards per pass and threw an interception before the ankle injury forced him to the sidelines. Siemian impressed in relief, throwing two touchdowns.
