Why Doesn’t James Scott Want to Talk about Property?

Scott's book is outstanding in many ways but it has one huge blind spot. He doesn't deal at all with humankind's most creative invention: private property. That said, on matters concerning the state, he can be extremely compelling. And they almost pulled it off!
