Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid confirmed Wednesday the team suspended cornerback Marcus Peters for this Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders.

"This was something Marcus and I discussed. I'm going to leave it at that," Reid told Terez A. Paylor of The Kansas City Star.

Peters tossed a penalty flag into the stands during Sunday's loss to the New York Jets and walked off the field, although he wasn't ejected for his actions.

Reid refused to state whether Peters was suspended for throwing the flag, walking off the field, or both actions, Paylor reports. However, he said he made the decision based off Sunday's loss to the Jets.

Peters was named to the Pro Bowl in his first two seasons and earned first-team All-Pro honors in 2016.

The 24-year-old recorded 41 tackles, three interceptions, two forced fumbles, and five pass deflections in 12 games.
