Thomas Davis' suspension reduced to 1 game

Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis had his two-game suspension for a blindside hit on Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams reduced to a single game, the league announced Tuesday.

It marks the first time in Davis' 12-year career he'll serve a suspension.

The reduction is big news for the Panthers, though, as Davis is eligible to return in Week 17 for a significant divisional game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Davis' helmet-to-helmet hit forced Adams to leave the game with a concussion. Afterward, Adams voiced his displeasure on social media, leading to an apology from Davis.

Adams missed Tuesday's practice and his status for Saturday against the Minnesota Vikings is unclear, though it would be surprising to see him suit up with the Packers eliminated from the postseason.
