Newton doesn't approve of Richardson's decision to sell Panthers

Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson is selling his team in the wake of workplace misconduct violations, but the face of the franchise isn't on board with the move.

Cam Newton said Wednesday he "didn't approve" of Richardson's decision to sell after 24 years at the helm, according to Bill Voth of the Panthers' official site.

The quarterback said he was part of a meeting with the Panthers' higher-ups and captains who were told by Richardson of the decision to sell before Sunday's official announcement, according to Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer.

"I left dejected," added Newton.

Richardson is reportedly accused of sexual harassment against female employees and using a racial slur toward an African-American employee.

One of the main questions surrounding Richardson's decision to sell the team is whether the Panthers will remain in Carolina. Newton said he wants the Panthers to stay, adding he's heard that will be the case, according to Person.
