Trent Cole to retire as member of Eagles on Christmas Day

Linebacker Trent Cole announced he will retire as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles on Christmas night, according to the team.

The 35-year-old will serve as the Eagles' honorary alumni captain against the visiting Oakland Raiders on Monday.

Cole was drafted 146th overall in the 2005 draft and spent his first 10 NFL seasons with the Eagles, before ending his career with a two-year stint as a member of the Indianapolis Colts.

The two-time Pro Bowler racked up totals of 617 combined tackles, 90.5 sacks, 21 forced fumbles, one interception, and one touchdown over 176 career games. He played in a total of eight playoff games with the Eagles.

He played his final game with the Colts in Week 17 of last season.
