Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis will return for Week 17 after serving a one-game suspension for his hit on Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams, who accused the veteran of "headhunting."

In his first public comments on the incident Thursday, Davis insisted he isn't a dirty player.

"It's very unfair," he said of the criticism, according to ESPN's David Newton. "I've seen a lot of stuff that's being said. Obviously, people are going to form their own opinions based on what they saw. At the end of the day, I know for 13 years I've played the game the right way. I can rest easy on it."

Following the hit, Davis seemed concerned as he made his way toward the sidelines. He later apologized to Adams, who suffered a concussion on the play. Adams missed Week 15, has yet to clear the league's concussion protocol, and isn't expected to play in the final game of the season Sunday.
