Packers sign Davante Adams to reported 4-year, $58M extension

The Green Bay Packers signed wideout Davante Adams to a contract extension Friday that will total $58 million over four years, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The 25-year-old leads the team in receptions (74), yards (885), and touchdowns (10), and was scheduled to become a free agent after the season.

Earlier this month, quarterback Aaron Rodgers pushed for the Packers to retain one of his top targets.

"He's making a lot of money this year. Hopefully, we pay him sooner rather than later," Rodgers said, according to Packers News' Ryan Wood.

Adams tallied a career-best 997 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2016. Even with his starting QB missing much of the season due to a broken collarbone, the 25-year-old has maintained similar numbers entering the final week of the 2017 regular season.

An annual salary of roughly $14.5 million per year would put him among the highest earners at his position.

By comparison, Pittsburgh Steelers wideout and MVP candidate Antonio Brown signed a four-year, $68-million extension in February.
