Report: Bears to interview Eagles QB coach DeFilippo for HC job
The Chicago Bears are scheduling an interview with Philadelphia Eagles quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo for later this week regarding their head coaching vacancy, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
The development comes hours after the team gave John Fox the axe following a trio of seasons with double-digit losses. A search for an offensive-minded coach was expected to ensue, and DeFilippo fits the bill.
DeFilippo has seen his praises sung for his work with second-year signal-caller Carson Wentz, who had mounted an MVP-worthy campaign before suffering a torn ACL in Week 14. The 39-year-old joined the Eagles in 2016 after spending the previous campaign as offensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns.
