Report: Colts get permission to interview Texans' Vrabel for HC job
The Indianapolis Colts have been granted permission to interview Houston Texans defensive coordinator Mike Vrabel for their head coaching vacancy, a source told Albert Breer of the MMQB.
Vrabel joins a list of reported candidates including Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, Panthers defensive coordinator Steve Wilks, Chiefs OC Matt Nagy, and Chiefs special teams coordinator Dave Toub. The news comes a day after Chuck Pagano, who had led the team since 2012, was axed.
The 42-year-old Vrabel - who played 14 years as a pro and won three Super Bowls with New England - joined the Texans' staff as a linebackers coach in 2014 before taking over the defense previously run by Romeo Crennel this year.
