The Green Bay Packers aren't holding back in their search for a new general manager following a pair of reportedly denied interview requests on Friday.

Green Bay submitted paperwork for permission to interview Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider, but it was denied, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Schneider, a Wisconsin native, started his career with the Packers as a scout in 1993, and later served as personnel analyst to the general manager and director of football operations from 2002-09. He was widely believed to have had an out in his original Seahawks contract in 2010 that would have allowed him to leave in order to assume GM duties with Green Bay.

He signed an extension with the Seahawks in July 2016 that did not contain this clause, and Schneider denied it ever existed.

The Packers would have to work a trade with the Seahawks if they wish to pursue Schneider's services.
