The writing was on the wall for Alex Smith after the Chiefs' blockbuster trade to move up in the draft to select Patrick Mahomes, and it appears Kansas City still intends to move on from the veteran despite a playoff berth.

The Chiefs are still open to trading Smith this offseason, though they won't actively seek out a trade partner, sources told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Rapoport reports the New York Jets, Denver Broncos, Jacksonville Jaguars, Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Browns, and Arizona Cardinals are among the teams that will likely be interested in Smith.

Smith could save his job in K.C. by taking the team to the Super Bowl, however, added Rapoport.

The 33-year-old - who produced the best regular season of his career - admitted in September he believes the Chiefs will move on from him at the end of the season.

"For sure," Smith said when asked if 2017 feels like his last year with the Chiefs. "It absolutely does. Without a doubt."
