Steelers' Bell: We're a lot closer on contract talks than we were last year

The Pittsburgh Steelers seem to be making headway in contract talks with running back Le'Veon Bell.

While discussing a possible extension at Wednesday's AFC Pro Bowl practice, the star rusher said, "We are a lot closer than we were last year," according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

Bell said the Steelers have already made him an offer and he'd like to "move forward and get things done," according to Mark Kaboly of The Athletic.

He added that the Steelers haven't told him whether they'll use the franchise tag on him as a placeholder.

Bell played under the franchise tag in 2017. In 15 regular-season games, he rushed for 1,291 yards and nine touchdowns. He added 85 receptions for 655 yards and two touchdowns.

In the divisional-round loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, he rushed for 67 yards and a touchdown, adding 88 receiving yards and a second score through the air

He recently said he would consider sitting out the 2018 season or even retiring if the Steelers franchise tagged him again.
