Report: Eagles' Reich emerges as favorite for Colts' head coach position

Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich has emerged as the favorite to land the Indianapolis Colts' head coaching job, sources told ESPN's Chris Mortenson and Adam Schefter.

The two sides still need to negotiate a signed, sealed, and delivered contract, according to league sources.

Reich is coming off a victory in Super Bowl LII in his second of two seasons in his role with the Eagles. He had previously spent two years as the offensive coordinator of the San Diego Chargers.

The 56-year-old former quarterback got his start as an NFL coach with the Colts in 2008 as an offensive coaching staff assistant. He went on to become the quarterbacks coach and wide receivers coach with the team.

Colts general manager Chris Ballard conducted a series of interviews with Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier, Reich, and New Orleans Saints assistant head coach/tight ends coach Dan Campbell this week, after being spurned by New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.

The Colts had announced the hiring of McDaniels on a verbal agreement before he reneged and opted to return to the Patriots.

A source told Mortensen and Schefter that Reich's hiring won't be announced until after a contract is fully executed.
