Intel used 1,218 drones to set a Guinness World Record on December 12th, 2017 in Pyeongchang, South Korea for the most unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) airborne simultaneously. According to Wired, Intel planned on airing the same show live at the PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games 2018, filled with amazing drone-made animations of the Olympic rings and various winter sports flying high over the opening ceremony, but had to show pre-recorded footage instead due to "impromptu logistical changes."
