Houston Texans star J.J. Watt will receive an honorary doctorate from Baylor for his relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, the university announced.

Watt, who raised over $37 million to help counter the devastation caused by the hurricane, will be given a Doctor of Humanities in Medicine degree during Baylor's commencement ceremony in May.

The 28-year-old was named the NFL's Walter Payton Man of the Year during Super Bowl weekend for his humanitarian work within the community.

Watt, a three-time Defensive Player of the Year, is rehabbing from a broken leg that ended his 2017 season after five games.
