A week before they're expected to be major players in free agency, the San Francisco 49ers wrapped up one of their own.

The Niners inked receiver Marquise Goodwin to a three-year extension, the team announced on Thursday. Contract terms were not divulged, but ESPN's Josina Anderson reports the deal is worth $20.3 million with $10 million guaranteed.

In his first year as a 49er, Goodwin had a breakout season. He registered a career-high 56 catches and 962 yards while adding two touchdowns. He became the team's top receiver with Pierre Garcon only able to play in eight games.

The Niners own roughly $70 million in cap space and are expected to target a receiver in free agency, but before doing so, they secured the services of a downfield threat for new quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.
