Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand was fined $2,000 for diving/embellishment by the NHL, the league announced Friday.

Here's a look at the play, which occurred March 1 against the Pittsburgh Penguins:

Marchand wasn't pleased with the result, but reminded everyone that a $2,000 fine is peanuts for someone with an $8-million salary. For comparison's sake, that would be the equivalent of fining an average person with a $50,000-salary just $12.05.

Brad Marchand on being fined 2K for embellishment: "That hit is very small and minor. It's the last thing I'm going to worry about. I dont care about this. It's a joke. It's a small amount of money and pretty stupid. But it is what it is."

Marchand received a warning from the NHL for a similar incident against the Tampa Bay Lightning in November. Another violation of Rule 64 (diving/embellishment) would cost him $3,000, per the league's fine system for the regulation.
