Report: Sherman to meet with 49ers, will work toward contract
It might not take very long for Richard Sherman to find a new home.
Less than 24 hours after being released by the Seattle Seahawks, the cornerback is slated to meet with the San Francisco 49ers, sources confirmed to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
If Sherman, who suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in Week 10 against the Arizona Cardinals, is deemed healthy and the meeting goes well, a contract could get done quickly, Schefter notes.

Sherman told ESPN's Josina Anderson that he's also received preliminary interest from the Tennessee Titans, Detroit Lions, Oakland Raiders, Houston Texans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Green Bay Packers.

While a move to a division rival might rub the Seahawks and their fans the wrong way, the 49ers appear to be a logical fit for the shutdown defender. San Francisco, a team with an abundance of cap space, is coming off a season in which defensive backs allowed 27 receiving touchdowns and combined to only 10 interceptions.
If Sherman were to sign in San Francisco, it would represent a clear message to the division-rival Los Angeles Rams, a team fresh off trading for cornerback Aqib Talib, who joins Sam Shields and Marcus Peters in what appears to be a much-improved pass defense.
Sherman previously spent his entire seven-year career with the Seahawks, earning four Pro Bowl selections and winning Super Bowl XLVIII.
