The top running back prospect of this year's draft class is letting his combine workout stand.

After discovering the Penn State pro day would be run without NFL running back coaches in attendance, Saquon Barkley sat out Tuesday. He had only planned to workout in position drills prior to learning of who would be watching.

"I woke up this morning and that was the game plan," Barkley said, according to ESPN's Adam Rittenberg. "But then when I realized there wasn't a running backs coach here, I figured there was no point for me to run routes or do drills."

Barkley will soon begin visiting with teams and said he may do one or two workouts for pro clubs, but he would rather let his college tape tell the story of what he can do.

"I'm over this stage, running in shorts and sweatshirts," Barkley said. "That's cool and all, but I'm not a combine guy. I want you to throw on the film and I want to show that I'm a football player."

While Barkley says he's not a combine guy, he was arguably the most impressive athlete in Indianapolis last month.
