Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan was outspoken at a charity golf tournament Monday after it was revealed that his newborn twin sons were released from hospital.

Ryan's wife, Sarah, wrote on Instagram that she was taken to the hospital on Jan. 9 after complications with her pregnancy. She also stated that the couple's twin sons were placed in an intensive care unit focusing on premature infants for over a month. Both of the boys were eventually released after being hospitalized for over five weeks.

Ryan detailed the experience on Monday.

"Like any parent, obviously you want everything to go well,'' Ryan said to ESPN's Vaughn McClure. "We're not alone in having gone through this. I know other families, parents, children go through things like this all the time. You just want things to shake out well, and we're fortunate that they did. Obviously your mind really never leaves there because that's the most important thing in your life - your family.''

It seems Ryan is going to finally enjoy his offseason after undergoing a nightmare ordeal.

"I imagine you never feel like that as a parent. You're always worried about something. Obviously things have went really well for us. I'm just happy that they're home and healthy. And my wife is doing great, too.''
