Bills officially place Incognito on retired list

It looks like Richie Incognito was serious about his retirement threat, as the Buffalo Bills placed the four-time Pro Bowl guard on the Reserve/Retired list Thursday.

Incognito reportedly agreed to a pay cut in March that reduced his salary from $6.325 million to $3.65 million, then fired his agent via Twitter about two weeks later before telling reporters he planned to retire.

"I'm done. That's it. It's been a long career," Incognito said April 10. "Went to the doctor. My liver and kidneys are shutting down. The stress is killing me. It's just about doing what's right. I just want to be in the Hall of Fame."

The 34-year-old spent 12 seasons in the NFL over 13 years, missing the 2014 season as a free agent. He made four Pro Bowls, including three straight from 2015-17, but he may be remembered more for creating controversy. Incognito was famously involved in the 2013 bullying scandal with Jonathan Martin, allegedly directed a racial slur at Yannick Ngakoue in 2017, and declared his support for Donald Trump.
