Free-agent quarterback Mark Sanchez has been suspended for the first four games of the 2018 NFL season for violating the league's performance-enhancing substance policy, reports James Palmer of NFL Network.

The nine-year pro would be eligible for offseason and training-camp practices as well as preseason games if he were to land with a team.

Sanchez confirmed the positive test via Instagram on Friday.

Sanchez was on the Chicago Bears' roster last season but did not play a game, serving as the third-string quarterback behind Mitch Trubisky and Mike Glennon. The 31-year-old last started a game in 2015, for the Philadelphia Eagles.
