Giants release Brandon Marshall with failed physical designation
The New York Giants have released veteran wide receiver Brandon Marshall.
A failed physical designation was applied to Marshall's release, Giants general manager Dave Gettleman told Dan Duggan of The Athletic.

Cutting Marshall saves the Giants more than $5.1 million in cap space for the 2018 season and costs them just $1 million in dead money, according to Over The Cap. The 34-year-old was entering the second season of a two-year, $11-million contract signed last offseason.
However, Marshall played just five games in 2017, catching 18 passes for 154 yards and no touchdowns, before suffering a season-ending ankle injury in Week 5 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Marshall had previously said he wants to play two more years, despite the injury.
The six-time Pro Bowler has career totals of 959 receptions, 12,215 yards, and 82 touchdowns over 172 games split between the Denver Broncos, Miami Dolphins, Chicago Bears, New York Jets, and Giants.
