Josh Allen acknowledged and apologized late Wednesday night for using racially offensive language in tweets when he was in high school.

Several tweets from 2012 and 2013 in which Allen used the "N-word" multiple times were dug up Wednesday night. Allen acknowledged the existence of the tweets to ESPN's Stephen A. Smith and apologized for them, saying he was young and dumb, according to ESPN.

The tweets, which were cited by Yahoo! Sports, have since been erased from Allen's account.

The quarterback from Wyoming is certain to be a first-round pick in Thursday night's NFL draft, and could potentially be the first overall selection based on many draft boards.
