While Jason Witten has reportedly decided to retire, another veteran tight end wants to continue his NFL career.

Free agent Antonio Gates wants to continue playing, but the Los Angeles Chargers have informed the veteran this offseason they do not plan on re-signing him, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The news will end Gates' 15-year tenure with the Chargers. The team (then in San Diego) signed the former collegiate basketball standout as an undrafted free agent in 2003. The rest is history, as Gates now leads the franchise with 927 receptions, 11,508 yards, and 114 touchdowns.

Gates is an eight-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro selection. The NFL's all-time touchdown leader among tight ends will apparently have to end his career with another franchise.
