San Francisco 49ers CEO Jed York abstained from voting on the NFL's new policy regarding protests during the national anthem because he wants to hear more from the players, according to Steve Wyche of NFL Network.

Commissioner Roger Goodell said the new policy, that won't require players to be on the field for the anthem but could fine teams for player protests, was unanimously agreed upon.

York says his team will halt concession sales during the playing of the anthem as a sign of further respect.

"I don't think we should be profiting if we're going to put this type of attention and focus on the field and on the flag," York said, per Sam Farmer of the Los Angeles Times.
