Gruden on adding Derrick Johnson: 'We love stealing from the Chiefs'
Jon Gruden is wasting no time reigniting old feuds with division rivals.
Since returning to his role as head coach of the Oakland Raiders this offseason, the club signed former Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Derrick Johnson via free agency.
Gruden hailed it as a big addition to his defense.
"We added Derrick Johnson, the all-time leading tackler in Kansas City Chiefs history. He started every game for them last year. They were the division champions," Gruden said on a season-ticket holders conference call this week, according to Ryan Lipton of SilverandBlackPride.com.
"Last time I was here at Oakland, we stole Rich Gannon from Kansas City, we took Andre Rison from the Chiefs, we took Albert Lewis from the Chiefs. We love stealing from the Chiefs."
Actually, the Chiefs let the veteran's contract expire and allowed him to hit free agency, so the Raiders didn't ... congratulations, Coach Gruden!
