New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees has secured almost every individual accolade during his professional career, but there are still targets to achieve on the horizon.

Brees is looking to lead the Saints toward another deep playoff run after a heartbreaking loss to the Minnesota Vikings, signing a two-year, $50-million extension with the club in March.

Sitting third on the NFL's all-time passing yards list (70,445), Brees is on pace to surpass both Brett Favre and Peyton Manning in 2018. Still, he's trying not to get ahead of himself with the milestone inching closer.

"I try not to think about that," Brees said via Joel A. Erickson of The New Orleans Advocate. "I just try to think about, obviously, taking care of business one day at a time. Then as the season rolls around, you take it one week and one game at a time; eventually, those things add up and they stack up, and then you are in a position to do it."

Many project Brees to break the record in Week 5 when the Saints are scheduled to host the Washington Redskins on Monday Night Football. If you ask Brees, the timing isn't a coincidence.

"There's a reason they put Week 5 on Monday night, you know what I'm saying?" Brees said. "I don't think any of us are dummies."

Brees' legacy has long been secure but at 39, with an extension secured, he's yet to grow complacent.
