RG3's outlook unchanged by Ravens' pick of Lamar Jackson
Robert Griffin III doesn't believe the addition of first-round pick Lamar Jackson to the Baltimore Ravens will affect his ability to crack the roster out of training camp.
Griffin looked to be the front-runner to claim the backup job to Joe Flacco before the NFL draft, but the selection of Jackson means Griffin will have to convince the Ravens they should carry three quarterbacks.
"When they drafted Lamar, I didn't look at it as a shot at me or a shot at Joe," Griffin told Mike Jones of USA TODAY Sports. "It was 'OK, Lamar is coming in here, and it's our job to help him learn the offense and help him compete.' So, for me, my job is to show them that I'm an asset to the team and not a detriment " One (reporter) asked me if I was trying to showcase for other teams. No, my focus is, 'I'm a Baltimore Raven. I'm showcasing to them that this is where I'm supposed to be.'"
Griffin signed with the Ravens at the beginning of April after spending the previous season out of football. The former No. 2 overall pick is looking to reignite his career in Baltimore.
