Former NFL spokesman rips president's decision to revoke Eagles' WH invite

Joe Lockhart, the NFL's former executive vice president of communications and top public relations official, had some harsh critiques of President Donald Trump's decision to cancel the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles' visit to the White House.

Official statements from the President used to be serious thoughtful expressions of national interest. Now they are childish rants. The latest-if some of the SB champs don't want to come to the WH, then none of them are invited. POTUS will play with his toys alone tomorrow

The Eagles were supposed to visit President Trump and the White House on Tuesday, but their invitation was rescinded.

"They disagree with their President because he insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem, hand on heart, in honor of the great men and women of our military and the people of our country," the statement read.

Lockhart accused the president of "childish rants," and that he will now "play with his toys alone" instead of meeting with the Eagles.

Lockhart served as the White House press secretary from 1998-00 under President Bill Clinton.

He left his post with the NFL after Super Bowl LII in order to spend more time with his family.
