News briefs for Friday, June 8: Teens charged, counterfeit bills and licence plate switching

A 16-year-old boy is facing mischief and break and enter charges in relation to vandalism at an Ancaster church. The charges relate to two incidents at Meadowlands Fellowship Church on Stonehenge Drive over the last few months where windows and doors were broken and some items were stolen. The church responded publicly to the vandalism, which caused about $3,500 in damage, with love and forgiveness. Plywood used to cover the broken windows and doors included messages "You are loved by all" and "No hard feelings, eh?" Hamilton police HEAT unit officers executed two search warrants at an Ancaster residence and a vehicle shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday. The teen, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was arrested and charged with three counts of mischief under $5,000, and two counts of break and enter. He was expected to appear in court Thursday.
