Bell's agent calls reported 5-year, $70M offer inaccurate
The agent for running back Le'Veon Bell said Tuesday that the Pittsburgh Steelers did not offer him a five-year contract worth $70 million, as was previously reported, while adding that only the first season would have been guaranteed.
"No matter what that final number was - and I'm certainly not saying that what has been reported is accurate because it's not, quite frankly - the most important element of it is the guarantee," Adisa Bakari told SiriusXM NFL Radio. "You couple that with the traditional way in which Pittsburgh does its deals, which, at the end of the day, nothing's guaranteed after the first year."
Bell and the Steelers were unable to hammer out a long-term extension Monday - the deadline for players under the franchise tag to ink new deals. As a result, Bell will play the 2018 season under a one-year tag for the second year in a row.

Earlier, Bakari revealed that his client plans to skip training camp but will report to the Steelers in time for the regular season, which would follow the script from 2017.
In 15 games a season ago, Bell tallied 1,291 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground while adding 85 catches for 655 yards and another pair of scores through the air.
