After spending the last five years in Bill Belichick's "principal's office," Danny Amendola is relishing the chance to play for a more personable head coach in the Miami Dolphins' Adam Gase.

"Coach Gase is one of the guys, one of the boys, and you want to fight hard for your boys," the veteran receiver said on Barstool's "Comeback Szn" podcast. "Back in New England, it's almost like you've got a principal, the principal's office and s--- like that."

Amendola won a pair of Super Bowls during his time with the Patriots and grew famous for his clutch playoff performances. He said he believes Belichick is "the greatest coach of all time," but added he's glad to be far away from the famous scowl and disciplinarian tactics.

"Coach Gase is one of the guys. He's our leader, he's our head coach, but he's also our boy. So it's cool. It's refreshing to have that kind of relationship with a coach, something I haven't had in a long time," Amendola said. "I FaceTimed Coach Gase yesterday just to bulls--- with him, just to talk to him. I was talking to his kids. I have a relationship with him that's real unique, something I haven't had in a while."

Amendola, 32, inked a two-year contract with the Dolphins in March after posting 61 receptions for 659 yards and two touchdowns for the Patriots last season.

He previously acknowledged that "it's not easy" to play for Belichick, a sentiment that has seemingly grown over the past year given the reported tension between the bench boss and Patriots stars Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski.
