The Seattle Seahawks put disgruntled safety Earl Thomas on its reserve/did not report list Thursday after he began his holdout from training camp.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Thursday morning that the All-Pro is prepared to sit out, even into the regular season, until he's traded or he gets a new deal from the team.

Thomas' absence from the first days of camp was noticeable.

"We always expect him to be here. It's kind of how it is," Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said, according to Sports Radio KJR's Curtis Crabtree.

"He should be here and he's not."

Thomas has one year remaining on his contract. He's set to earn $8.5 million in base salary for the 2018 season.

Despite Thomas' discontent, the Seahawks aren't shutting the door on a possible return.

"We're expecting him back. He's under contract," Carroll said.
