The New England Patriots have been dealing with training camp injuries at wide receiver and have reportedly considered bringing in one of the biggest names left in free agency.

The Pats had veteran receiver Eric Decker in for a free-agent workout on Monday, ESPN's Field Yates reports, citing a source.

New England wideouts Kenny Britt, Malcolm Mitchell, and Jordan Matthews are currently banged up, Yates adds.

Decker, an eight-year vet, spent the 2017 season with the Tennessee Titans. He saw the field in all 16 games and totaled 54 catches for 563 yards and one touchdown. His best years came in 2012 and 2013 with the Denver Broncos, but he enjoyed a resurgence with the New York Jets in 2015 when he recorded 12 touchdowns.

In June, Decker name-dropped the Patriots as a team he'd like to play for.

"I think the Patriots would be a good fit and being drafted by (Patriots offensive coordinator) Josh McDaniels in Denver," he said. "I talked with New England last year during the free-agency process in June. That is always an option that I would definitely love to entertain."
