Report: Bell telling Steelers teammates he'll report on Labor Day
Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell apparently won't be missing any of the regular season after all.
Bell has told some teammates that he'll be reporting to practice on Labor Day Monday, sources told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Gerry Dulac. The Steelers are expecting Bell to be at Monday's practice, Dulac adds.
Bell missed all of the Steelers' training camp for the second year in a row after being signed to a second consecutive franchise tag, valued at $14.5 million for the 2018 season.
The star rusher reported to the team just in time for the 2017 season and played last year on a $12.1-million tag. He went on to rank third in the league in rushing yards (1,291) and tied for third in rushing touchdowns (9). He added 85 receptions for 655 yards and two more scores while playing 15 games.
The three-time Pro Bowler said in March that he wouldn't miss any of the regular season, even though he planned on missing training camp if not given a long-term deal.
The Steelers open the 2018 regular season Sept. 9 against the Cleveland Browns.
