Tony Romo punched his ticket to the First Stage of Web.com Tour qualifying, carding a 2-over 74 at Lantana Golf Club on Friday.

However, Romo didn't survive solely on his own merit after finishing the pre-qualifier tied for 37th, with only the top 36 advancing. Luckily for the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback, Tomo Watanabe signed his scorecard with a score of four on the fifth hole when he had actually taken a five.

Watanabe, who shot a 69, was disqualified because of the mistake, pushing Romo into the top 36 and giving him a spot in the First Stage of qualifying, according to ESPN's Bob Harig.

Romo will now play in the qualifying rounds, which are set for late September and early October. Following that he'll need to advance through two more tournaments and then finish in the top 40 at the Final Stage to earn fully exempt status.
