Report: Multiple teams inquiring about Seahawks' Thomas
Nine days before the Seattle Seahawks open their 2018 season, star safety Earl Thomas remains away from the team.
Thomas has held out of all team activities due to frustration over his current contract. He's publicly provided the team with an ultimatum to either extend or trade him, and it appears other teams are preparing for the second option.
Multiple teams have recently reached out to the Seahawks about acquiring the disgruntled safety, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. The Dallas Cowboys, who were the first team to express interest in Thomas, remain an option. However, teams have yet to meet Seattle's asking price, per Pelissero.

The former All-Pro defensive back has been very vocal about his desire for a new deal as he enters the final season of a four-year, $40-million contract. He is currently the sixth-highest paid safety in the NFL in terms of average annual value.
No progress has been made in extending or reworking the veteran's contract, and neither Seattle nor Thomas has shown any sense of urgency despite the regular season inching closer.
The news is consistent with the team reportedly informing Thomas in July that it would not address his contract this offseason. Multiple NFL executives believe the Seahawks will eventually trade their star defender.
