Chargers place Hunter Henry on PUP, not IR
The Los Angeles Chargers placed tight end Hunter Henry on the physically unable to perform list, rather than the injured reserve, when the team finalized its opening-day roster.
Henry's injury designation is notable, as it leaves open the possibility of a late-season return. He'll miss the first six weeks of the season, then the Chargers will have a 21-day window to activate him.
The tight end tore his ACL during a minicamp non-contact drill in May.
Chargers general manager Tom Telesco previously said Henry will miss the entire 2018 season.
The second-round pick in 2016 caught 45 passes for 579 yards and four touchdowns last season. Virgil Green currently sits atop the team's tight end depth chart.
