Report: RG3 to be Ravens' No. 2 QB, not Jackson
The Baltimore Ravens will have a Heisman winner backing up Joe Flacco to start the year, but apparently not the one they drafted in 2018.
The Ravens are planning for Robert Griffin III to be the team's No. 2 quarterback to begin the regular season rather than rookie first-rounder Lamar Jackson, reports Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
Griffin was the subject of trade speculation prior to Saturday's deadline to trim rosters to 53 players, but it seems that Baltimore wants to keep the veteran so Jackson isn't forced onto the field before he's ready.
The No. 2 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft was out of football last season. He completed 22 of 38 passes for 313 yards with three touchdowns and one interception in four preseason games while adding another 40 yards on five runs.
