Report: Browns likely to trade Gordon before release
The Cleveland Browns are more likely to trade Josh Gordon before releasing the wide receiver Monday, league sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The Browns announced Saturday they will release Gordon, who will become a free agent instead of going through waivers because of his status as a vested veteran.
Gordon reportedly showed up late to the Browns' facility Saturday morning with a mysterious hamstring injury, raising the eyebrows of some in the Cleveland organization. The injury wasn't suffered at practice, and instead reportedly took place at a promotional event.
The 27-year-old Gordon has an extensive history of struggles with substance-abuse, but there was no indication when the Browns announced his impending departure that he's facing a suspension.
Gordon caught the game-tying touchdown late in the fourth quarter last week versus the Pittsburgh Steelers. It was his lone reception of the game.
