New Oakland Raiders receiver Martavis Bryant will be allowed to play while his suspension is under appeal, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

The Raiders traded for Bryant during the draft then cut him after learning he was reportedly facing a year-long suspension for another drug violation. He was re-signed Wednesday on a one-year deal.

The wideout's appeal will be heard within the next couple of weeks and his legal team is confident about a positive outcome, Schefter adds.

Lacking reliable pass-catchers, the Raiders signed Bryant to a contract that will pay him on a weekly basis.
