Week 2 NFL betting report: Money pouring in on Broncos
The Week 2 NFL slate is already well underway with nine games kicking off in Sunday's early time slot. Now, with four left on the docket before Sunday Night Football, we brought in Will Bernanke, lead analyst at CG Analytics, to provide insight on how bettors are approaching the late afternoon games.
Oakland at Denver - 4:25 p.m. ETOpen: DEN -4.5 (point spread) / 45.5 (game total)
Current: DEN -6 / 45.5
The Raiders left a sour taste in bettors' mouths to end Week 1, crumbling in the second half en route to a 33-13 loss to the Rams. The Week 2 matchup with Denver will be the first road game under head coach Jon Gruden, and the Broncos are fresh off a comeback win over the Seahawks in Mile High last weekend.
The Broncos opened as 4.5-point favorites before money came pouring in on them - to the extent that the book will need the road team on Sunday.
"The biggest liability as of now is Denver," Bernanke said.
New England at Jacksonville - 4:25 p.m. ETOpen: PK / 45
Current: NE -1 / 44
In a rematch of the AFC Championship Game, the Jaguars will have an opportunity to exact revenge after watching New England storm back late to reach the Super Bowl.
New England typically attracts public money because of the franchise's popularity, but the book will be hoping the Jags come through this time around.
"Respected money came in on the Jaguars so as of now the book is rooting for the Pats," Bernanke said.
Both teams are 1-0 heading into Sunday's matchup.
