Titans' Henry calls his performance 'trash'
The 2018 season, like the previous two years, was supposed to be Derrick Henry's breakout campaign.
It still may prove to be, but through three games the Tennessee Titans running back has rushed for 139 yards and no touchdowns at a pedestrian three-yards-per-carry average.
"It's been trash play, and it's unacceptable as far as me and my position," Henry told Jim Wyatt of Titansonline.com on Thursday.
"The position I play, I have to be more physical, and I have to make more explosive runs. I have to help this offense in a big way that I've always talked about that I want to do."
Henry shares the Titans' backfield with Dion Lewis, who was signed this offseason after a stint with the New England Patriots. He leads the team in carries (46 to Lewis' 39), but Lewis has recorded four more rushing yards and scored once.
Henry split rushing responsibilities with DeMarco Murray the past two seasons. He expects more from himself in 2018.
"It's a mentality thing. I just have to get it. I have to get it," he said.
The Titans face the Philadelphia Eagles' top-ranked rushing defense on Sunday.
